{"id":284,"date":"2008-03-07T16:51:36","date_gmt":"2008-03-07T21:51:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/csaline.com\/?p=284"},"modified":"2017-01-11T13:17:10","modified_gmt":"2017-01-11T18:17:10","slug":"new-direct-service-between-canada-usa-and-southern-africa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/csaline.com\/index.php\/2008\/03\/07\/new-direct-service-between-canada-usa-and-southern-africa\/","title":{"rendered":"New Direct Service between Canada, USA and Southern Africa"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Canada States Africa Line (CSAL) launched its new service from Canada and the U.S. East Coast to South Africa with the sailing of M\/V \u201cATLANTIC IMPALA\u201d on March 24<sup>th<\/sup>, 2008 from Montreal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The main ports of call in North America are Montreal and Baltimore. South African ports of call are: Durban, Richards Bay, Cape Town and Walvis Bay in Namibia. The service will have a monthly frequency with a transit time of 32 days to Durban.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Line will initially deploy two sister Vessels in the service: M\/V \u201cATLANTIC IMPALA\u201d and the M\/V \u201cATLANTIC NAVIGATOR\u201d. The Vessels are extremely flexible, modern, multi-purpose tween-deckers which have both RORO capabilities and heavy-lift gear. They are fitted to be able to carry all manner of bulk commodities, break-bulk, ro-ro, heavy-lift and oversized as well as hazardous cargoes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Importantly, the vessels are at the highest ice class which enables year round operations in the St. Lawrence.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The addition of a third vessel is forecasted for the fall of 2008 in order to increase the capacity and frequency of the service.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Freight coordination and operational centre for CSAL, north and southbound, will be managed by CSAL Montreal.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Agents in South Africa are Mitchell Cotts Maritime, a division of Grindrod (South Africa) (Pty) Ltd.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For North America, CSAL has appointed Protos Shipping Ltd. as its agents in Canada and Worldwide Logistics Partners Inc. as its U.S. Midwest representatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Canada States Africa Line (CSAL) launched its new service from Canada and the U.S. East Coast to South Africa with the sailing of M\/V \u201cATLANTIC IMPALA\u201d on March 24th, 2008 from Montreal.
